School Based Management

The School-Based Management (SBM) committee includes representatives from Westwood Charter’s administration, staff, teachers, and parents who meet monthly to manage most matters pertaining to school operation, including budget, curricular issues, safety concerns, and physical plant issues. The SBM is an important feature of our charter, and is a shining example of how the Westwood Charter community works together to make our school the special place it is. Generally, SBM meetings take place the second Thursday of each month. Members of the Westwood community may attend SBM meetings as guests.

SBM parent members are elected by the school-wide parent body to serve a two-year term. Elections are usually held during the first school month for terms beginning the following September. Elected SBM members attend SBM meetings and have the opportunity to work with teachers and administrators to represent parent concerns.
